Best Of Mass Ice Cream winners revealed: Official results for Western Mass. and Worcester

The Best Of Mass Ice Cream visits have concluded and the results are in for the Western Mass. and Worcester contests.

The judges had an adventurous road trip and enjoyed meeting everyone at all the scoop shops.  We learned how to make ice cream at Mt. Tom's Homemade Ice Cream and Christopher's Homemade Ice Cream.  Gran-Val Scoop welcomed us and showed us how they made their waffle cones.

We heard all about SoCo Creamery's made-from-scratch approach and how they are leading the charge when it comes to making small batches with all-natural ingredients. Rice Fruit Farm, which opened this past April, shared what the family owners love most about taking over a business that is so ingrained in the community.

Dave and his friendly staff at Rota-Spring introduced us to Grapenut ice cream and we joined in when all the staff at Howard's Drive-In in West Brookfield yelled for owner Mark Adams to tell him the that we had arrived.  We ran into George Livermore at Kimball Farm.  The 92-year-old ice cream fan has been eating ice cream from the scoop shop on the site for over 70 years. His favorite flavor? Mocha Chip and he buys a quart, which is enough to last him a week.

After much deliberation, the official standings for both contests are as follows.
