Sunday, November 24, 2pm
Academy of Music Theatre, Northampton

CISA's storytelling event is back by popular demand -- get your tickets now! Farmers, chefs, and neighbors from throughout the Valley will take to the stage to share their stories. Expect everything from the tragic to the hilarious as we journey through the fields and kitchens of the Pioneer Valley.

Watch: Daily Operation and Warner Farm

"Daily Operation definitely wouldn't be the same without River Rock Farm, without that specific beef. Same thing goes for Kitchen Garden Farm and all the things they grow, and the same thing goes for Warner Farm. Like, when it's time for corn, there's only one corn that I'm gonna buy for the restaurant, you know, from Warner."

We talked with David Schrier of Daily Operation about the ethos and specific magic behind the restaurant --  watch it here!
Watch: Next Barn Over Farm

"Like a lot of farms, everything has been on a shoestring and by the seat of our pants. But our guiding philosophy has been about taking care of the land, taking care of the people who work on our farm, and taking care of our community." -- Ray Young, owner of Next Barn Over Farm in Hadley.

What's in season?

New Salem Preserves
It's fully fall!

As of today, we're still seeing the tail end of summer crops like corn, tomatoes, and eggplant, so pick those up pronto if you still want to enjoy the flavors of summer! And fall crops are widely available now too, like apples, pears, winter squash, kale, spinach, and a lot more.

Want to get out to a farm this weekend?

Valley Bounty, CISA's weekly column in the Daily Hampshire Gazette, gives a peek behind the scenes at local farms and shares farmers' favorite recipes.

We're hiring!

CISA is seeking a Development Coordinator who will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to effectively identify prospects and cultivate, solicit, and steward donors. This includes event management, donor communications, and collaboration with program staff within the organization.

Successful farm-to-school efforts rest on a web of partnerships within each school and in the larger community. Parents, students, farmers, and community groups play critical roles in overcoming the challenges inherent in making big change.

We've seen lots of successes in local schools lately -- read all about it in CISA's column in the Daily Hampshire Gazette!

Thanks so much to everyone who came to our Fall Harvest Celebration last month! Special thanks to Valley View Farm for the gorgeous location, Wheelhouse for the out-of-this-world food, Tessa from Diemand Farm and Harrison from Bardwell Farm for sharing their experiences as young farmers, and to everyone who came, celebrated, and supported CISA! And congratulations to Teresa Bragg, who won a lifetime supply of pumpkins generously donated by Malinowski Farm!
