Join us at the Drive-In for FIELD NOTES 2021!
Tuesday, June 22nd
Gates open at 6:30pm, film screening at dusk
Northfield Drive-In, 981 Northfield St, Hinsdale NH

CISA’s storytelling event Field Notes returns June 22nd at the Northfield Drive-In! Join us for an evening of stories about local food and farming in western Mass, told by your neighbors.

This year’s show features six amazing storytellers from around the region sharing their adventures (and misadventures) in farming, cooking, navigating new cultures and relationships, building community, and more. Captured on tape at the Academy of Music in Northampton in May, we’re excited to share them with you in this safe and wonderful setting! Watch the preview!

Expect plenty of friends, fun times, and local food. See you at the Drive-In!

What's in season and where to find it
Pick-your-own farms are opening for the season! Find them on our online guide -- but make sure they're open before you go.

The growing season is really getting cranking now -- and we're keeping track of it all in our online guide to food and farms! Search for specific foods or products, find pick-your-own or farm stands or farmers' markets and more, and enjoy it all!

Enjoy the inspired meals that Local Hero chefs are creating with the local harvest -- this is a great time of year to dine out or order in. Visit your old favorites or find a new one!

If you have SNAP, you can earn an instant rebate on fresh fruits and vegetables purchased from participating local farms through HIP.
Hiring: TerraCorps Position
CISA is seeking a Regional Collaboration Coordinator to help build sales at farmers' markets through the Healthy Incentives Program (HIP), produce trainings for staff at HIP-approved sales outlets, and work with partners to ensure a comprehensive approach to HIP outreach, education, and training that adapts to the needs of local communities.

Local Hero profile: Sweet Morning Farm
“Local food is fantastic; the more local people can shop, the more small farms like ours can be supported and boost the local economy,” says Robin Creamer of Sweet Morning Farm, LLC. Creamer and his mother, Laura Timmerman, grow a wide variety of vegetables on one acre of land, implementing organic, no-till practices that care for the soil and allow plants to work their magic in providing the community with wonderful produce. They also raise cows, pigs, and chickens, and their pork and grass-fed beef are popular amongst their loyal market customers.

Behind the scenes at local farms
CISA's weekly Valley Bounty column in the Daily Hampshire Gazette focuses on what's happening behind the scenes right now at local farms. Recent columns include: strawberry season at Kosinski Farms, ice cream season at Flayvors of Cook Farm, adaptations at Old Friends Farm, and rhubarb season at Chmutka Farm. Read Valley Bounty!

WRSI's Local Hero Spotlight interviews feature a local farm or business each week. Recent interviews include: They Keep Bees, The Deck at the Alvah Stone, and Nasami Farm. Listen to WRSI's Local Hero Spotlight!
