March = maple, baby animals, and the coming of spring!
Maple sugar season!

Yesterday was winter and today is spring -- that's March in New England! And more specifically, it's maple month in Massachusetts so get out there and enjoy a sugar shack breakfast, see the sap boil, or check out a special maple event.

Winter markets are still going strong

Winter farmers' markets in Northampton, Easthampton, Hadley, Holyoke, and Springfield are still running and still packed with delicious local foods to keep your larder stocked until full on spring arrives. Don't miss em!

It's cuteness season

Yes, CISA's social media provides breaking news about advocacy efforts, info about what's in season and who's got it, tons of food for thought about how our food system works and how we want it to work, and more. But we're also committed to cuteness, so follow us if you don't already!
Welcome, Wendy!
We're delighted to welcome Wendy (Sweetser) Ferris on board as CISA's new Development Director! Wendy is excited to help people understand why they will love supporting CISA’s critical work in building a more resilient and just local food economy. She brings 20 years of experience in building community and engaging people in rural development and land issues in the region.

Behind the scenes on local farms
Every week, we're sharing the stories of what's happening on local farms and in other local businesses. Recently: meet the young entrepreneur behind Mountainside Maple Farm; hear about local wine at the elegant and welcoming Black Birch Vineyard; get to know the challenges and satisfaction of sourcing local products for a small grocer like Keystone Market; and get tempted by breakfast at Davenport Maple Farm.
