Field Notes is back in person! Come listen to true stories about following dreams, sustaining livelihoods, and connecting with others through food. Our storytellers are farmers, foodies, and community members, and their stories range from the serious to the downright silly. This year’s show promises to be one of our best yet, so don't miss it!

Seed + Harvest: CISA's Annual Report
We’re proud to share Seed + Harvest, our annual reflection on CISA’s work over the past year. All of our work – the expert assistance to local farms, the network-building, the connections between farmers and communities – would truly not be possible without your support!

Get to know our Local Heroes
Take a look behind the scenes! We talk with farmers and others every week for CISA's Valley Bounty column in the Daily Hampshire Gazette, and alongside Monte Belmonte and Kaliis Smith for their new show on NEPM, The Fabulous 413.

  • Valley Malt and Ground Up Grain: Phil, Monte, and Kaliis visit the Holyoke mill building that houses Valley Malt and their sister business Ground Up Grain to talk about the science behind malting, the flavor of flour, and the local grain economy. Give it a listen!

  • Everyday Farm: Spring is springing up at Everyday Farm in Gill. Actually, it’s bouncing all over the place! “We’ve had about a hundred lambs born so far this year,” says farmer Hannah Sol. Read all about them!

  • MDAR Commissioner Ashley Randle: First EVER female commissioner of the MA Department of Agricultural Resources, Ashley Randle, joins Phil, Kaliis, and Monte for a special episode. She talks about her department’s upcoming priorities, and how they and organizations like CISA each play a role in supporting our local food community and the hardworking people within it. Listen here!

  • Big Y: Did you know that Big Y has been sourcing produce from Southwick's Calabrese Farms since the 50s? And that's just one example. Founded by the D'Amour family in 1936, local sourcing has been built into Big Y's business model since the very beginning. Read more!
