Hiring: Farmers’ Market Staff – Red Fire Farm

Red Fire Farm, a leader in organic veggie production, is looking for healthy, happy, hardworking individuals to join its power crew in beautiful Montague and Granby, Massachusetts this season. Candidates should have at least a year of previous farming experience (not required but ideal) and must be passionate about changing the food system. This is a farm where you can take on a good deal of responsibility fairly quickly, if you want it; you can grow into a leadership position and have a real stake in helping us refine the work we do. We sell produce through our CSA program, wholesale, farmers markets and stands. Our goal is to make this farming thing truly sustainable — for everyone involved! Visit www.redfirefarm.com for more details!

Job Description

Red Fire Farm is looking for passionate local foodies to work at our farmer’s market booths this spring, summer and fall. We’re looking to fill four positions that will start in Montague every Tuesday and then travel to our Springfield or Boston farmers’ markets.

If you’re outgoing, have an artistic eye for display and are happy to talk about how best to cook/eat fresh veggies, please consider applying! Candidates must be able to lift 50lbs repeatedly without injury and commit for the duration of the market season (May through Thanksgiving).

Our market assistants begin their day early at the farm in Montague. They load a box truck with market infrastructure and produce and setup in a timely way before the start of a market. At the end of each market, assistants return to the farm and unload their vehicles.

Market days are long and full of hard work, but these are coveted positions on the farm: the markets we work are a lot of fun, people love interacting with the public and bring back really useful feedback for the rest of the crew.

Compensation is $10/hr plus all the veggies you can eat! This is a one day a week position on Tuesdays.

Please e-mail us with a cover letter, resume, and three references.
