Hiring: Program and Finance Manager – New Entry Sustainable Farming Project

The New Entry Sustainable Farming Project, a beginning farmer training program working to sustain our local and regional food system, is seeking a full-time, year-round management position to join their team based in Lowell, MA. Program and Finance Manager: The New Entry Program and Finance Manager will help develop, prepare and submit federal, state, local, and private foundation grants while ensuring that an adequate control structure is in place over the spending of funds between New Entry’s two fiscal sponsors. He/She will engage in strategic planning and financial analysis in such areas as forecasting, budgeting, engaging in cost reduction analysis, and reviewing operational performance.  He/She will facilitate the efficient operation of the office through administrative, clerical and financial managerial tasks; provide support in supervising AmeriCorps VISTA members; and coordinate New Entry events. They are seeking an all-around “get it done” person who is willing to play a leadership role across the organization on many levels.  This person will excel in performing detail-oriented tasks, keeping big picture organizational goals in mind, forging positive working relationships among staff, partners, farmers, and always striving to make process improvements across all our program and administrative functions.  This is a fast-paced, detail-oriented position that requires working well under pressure, meeting tight deadlines, and balancing multiple competing priorities with ease.

The ideal candidate will have:  knowledge of federal, state, and private grant applications procedures;  financial management, budgeting, and accounting basics; experience and skills using Quickbooks; familiarity with Salesforce; tolerance for unpredictable grant deadlines and constantly balancing priorities; willingness to work in an environment with high expectations for excellence; and a good sense of humor.
