Clarkdale Cider Run: gorgeous, hilly race to benefit CISA!
Celebrate the 100th anniversary of Clarkdale Fruit Farms on November 15th with a 12K road race to support CISA. The race will be on a beautiful loop course on Upper & Lower Roads in Deerfield & Greenfield. T-shirts guaranteed for the first 100 entrants, so sign up now, and help us spread the word on Facebook!

Many thanks from CISA to all who made our fall harvest dinner and fundraising event such a success. A special shout out to everyone who contributed flowers, beverages, or auction items. Thanks to Squash, Inc. and The Lone Wolf of Amherst for sourcing and serving a great local meal, Don Raucher for serving as our auctioneer, and all of our wonderful volunteers. The generosity of all who participated helps us continue in our mission to build a resilient agricultural economy.

Cindy Bellerose, a Johnson and Wales grad who left the restaurant game to take over the family orchard, has big plans for her farm in East Longmeadow. In addition to the orchard, bakery, and ice cream shop, she hopes to do even more to integrate her culinary training, although growing fruit and baking for the stand keeps her busy!  "The Apple Place provides an old-timey family destination where people can go that's peaceful," she says. Food Day is coming!
On October 24th, communities all over the country will celebrate Food Day, gathering around food and pushing for change to our food system. Details about local events can be found here.

Officials visit Tuesday Market to learn about food access work
This past week, Northampton's Tuesday Market hosted a group of state and elected officials to highlight partnerships working to address food access issues, including CISA's SNAP & Save program, which is matching SNAP/Food Stamp spending at participating farmers' markets this summer, and our Senior FarmShare Program, which provided 400 low-income seniors with access to local produce this summer.
