Apprenticeship: North Plain Farm/Blue Hill Farm

North Plain Farm is a family run 100% grass fed, certified organic dairy and muliti-species livestock farm in the Berkshire Hills of Western MA. We are committed to sustainable and organic practices and high standards of animal welfare. This apprenticeship will allow you direct working experience with dairy cows, goats, draft horses, chickens (layers and broilers), pigs, some vegetable growing (we produce a huge amount of heirloom tomatoes), and all the equipment and tools required to do so. Educational workshops and industry conference opportunities are provided.

Our farm is located in the hills of the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts, a community that strongly supports its farmers and food artisans. We sell directly to consumers, at the farmers market, to local restaurants and we have a close working relationship with Blue Hill Stone Barns/Blue Hill New York restaurants. We are looking for 1-2 apprentices to start ASAP with a commitment of 6 or 12 months (start date and time commitment flexible). We prefer an overnight working visit before commitment.

Apprentices will be exposed to all aspects of the farm. Food, housing and a stipend is provided.
