Cecchi family farm makes Parish Cupboard donation

Robert Cecchi Jr., of E. Cecchi Farms in Feeding Hills, presents Parish Cupboard executive director Martha Tighe with a check for $1,871.55, representing contributions by the farm's customers during the month of September, and donations collected at the farm's 22nd Corn Fest held in August.

AGAWAM - Robert Cecchi Jr. recently presented Parish Cupboard executive director Martha Tighe with a check for $1,871.55, representing donations collected at E. Cecchi Farms for the food pantry.

In August, as they have for the past 22 years, the Cecchi family has hosted their annual CornFest at their Springfield Street farm, offering a variety of home-grown treats free of charge to all comers in a gesture of thanks to their loyal customers.

This year’s menu included heirloom tomatoes, tomato and basil salad, cantaloupe, cucumber salad, grilled vegetables, and, the star of the event – corn-on-the-cob.

And, as has been the custom since 1993, two giant pickle jars were placed on the counter soliciting donations to help those in need, specifically, to benefit the Parish Cupboard, the food pantry serving Agawam and West Springfield.

Guests at the two-day event contributed $1,185 dollars to the cause. At the end of CornFest, the jar was placed on the counter through the end of September. Customers contributed an additional $686.55.

The Cecchi Family would like to thank their loyal customers for their continued patronage and their generosity.

Farm stand manager Robert Cecchi Jr. said, “Visitors to CornFest feast on a delicious spread of fresh vegetables, but there are many families in the area who go hungry. We are proud of our customers’ generosity and hope that the money collected will help those in need. We are already looking forward to next year’s CornFest.”
