Climate Change & Farming Week 2023 is Coming!

Submit your climate-related event to CISA’s events page here!

For the second year in a row, CISA is encouraging organizations, government agencies, farm and food businesses, school districts, and others to sponsor events focused on climate change and farming in Western Massachusetts and farther afield. This aligns with other climate change related events hosted by many organizations worldwide in conjunction with the UN General Assembly meetings in New York. Read more about Climate Change and Farming Week here!

This year, Climate Change & Farming Week 2023 (CCFW23) will take place September 18-22. Consider organizing an event and helping CISA build awareness of and support for farmers as they adapt to all the challenges of growing food in a warmer, wetter New England.

CISA has set up a CCFW23 event form, available here, where you can register your event and have it appear on the events calendar.

What kinds of events are appropriate?

We prefer to leave this up to you, however, here are a few examples:

  • Host an on-line or on-farm workshop for your constituents on some aspect of climate change & farming
  • Host a tree planting on a farm that wants to reforest part of its land or plant trees that produce food
  • Host a farm equipment fair that highlights new, adaptive farming equipment and practices that address climate concerns such as greenhouse gas emissions or soil health
  •  Organize a letter writing event in support of Farm Bill revisions and programs that favor climate-friendly farming
  •  Organize a film showing of a film related to climate change & farming (there are many)
  •  Schedule a meeting with legislators to share your support for protecting farmland and incentivizing resilient farming practices
  • Promote your local farmer’s market for that week
  • If you work with students, discuss climate change & farming that week
  • Paint a mural
  • Hold a fundraising campaign for your organization’s climate change & farming programs that week
