We are a family run operation committed to low-impact orcharding and the production of high quality, wild fermented and natural hard ciders and traditional cider products – cider syrup, apple cider vinegar, switchel syrup, fruit shrubs, and more!  At Preservation Orchard – the home of Carr’s Ciderhouse –  we practice regenerative agriculture and evolutionary orcharding – low input silvopasture for carbon sequestration, no-spray for avian and pollinator habitat, and traditional and experimental cultivars for pest and disease resistance.

Preservation Orchard and Farm is a collaborative farming endeavor. In addition to Carr’s Ciderhouse, it is the home of Meadowfed Lamb – producers of gorgeous yarn, and silvopasture raised lamb, chicken, and eggs. Additionally, this 2023 season, farmers Ava Blum-Carr and Joe Manning will be producing vegetables for sale at the farm shop.

BIG NEWS for 2023! We are opening a CIDER GARDEN behind the Farm Shop. Every weekend from mid-May to mid-November, weather dependent (check our Instagram, Facebook, or Website for updates if it seems iffy) will be pouring glasses of our delicious hard ciders and shrubs, as well as giving tastings of all of our cider products.  As we get up and running, expect delicious farm snacks to accompany your drinks – we’ll post all about that too! In the spring there will be baby goats, and in the fall we will most certainly have our chestnuts roasting on an open fire. The setting is lovely and we can’t wait to see you!

Farm Stand

We have a farm shop located at 295 River Drive in Hadley.

When the weather is fine, we are open every day.  If the doors are open but we are not staffed and you want hard cider, text us. We put the cider away when we are not staffing the shop. If the doors are closed due to winter weather, you can still text us at 413.336.7363 – if we can come out and help you, we will!

You can order gifts to be shipped anywhere by ordering here.

Family Fun

We have just been licensed to open a CIDER GARDEN! On weekends, starting late spring, we will be open behind our Farm Shop for glasses of hard cider, shrubs, and farm snacks.

Peach update

There are no peaches for harvest in Massachusetts this year — an unfortunate casualty of increasingly variable weather fueled by climate change. We are keeping the guide updated with information about other fruit that is available, along with farms that are sourcing peaches from other parts of the region.
