SUMMARY:Art in the Orchard at Park Hill Orchard
DESCRIPTION:Art In the Orchard\, open all day from August 13 until Thanksgiving\, 2017\, is a walking sculpture trail which winds through their fruit gardens. The self-guided trail is about a half-mile long. A walk through the labyrinth adds about a quarter mile. This year’s exhibition is the fourth biennial which features all new works by sculptors as selected by their credentialed jury. \n-Please wear shoes and clothing appropriate for walking around farm fields and trails.\n-Well behaved and leashed dogs may come to the sculpture trail but please no dogs in the PYO fruit areas.\n-There is no charge for parking. \nTo clear up any confusion. You are allowed to make a voluntary donation to AiO at the trailhead. The sign suggests $5 per person or $20 per group or family. But your donation is voluntary and walking the sculpture trail is free. People who can should give more. The money is given to the artists as an honorarium and to cover their expenses.

SUMMARY:2017 Hilltown Fall Seed Exchange
DESCRIPTION:Mark your calendars for the 6th annual Hilltown Seed Exchange on Saturday\, November 18th from 1-4pm at the Cummington Community House! (33 Main Street\, Cummington)  Learn to save your own garden seed\, get answers to your seed saving questions\, and exchange seed that you’ve saved with your friends and neighbors! \nThis year’s event will feature an opening talk by Amy Pulley of Wing and A Prayer Pollinator Nursery in Cummington. Amy is actively working to restore pollinator habitats throughout the area and educate gardeners\, children and families about how to support pollinators by planting more pollinator plants (and saving their seeds!). \nAmy’s talk will begin at 1pm at the Cummington Community House and the seed exchange will follow at 1:30pm.  There will be plenty of time to browse and help yourself to the dozens of home grown varieties of tomatoes\, beans\, kale\, wildflowers\, and many other crops. Additional tables will be set up with information about ongoing seed saving projects\, recommended reading\, and opportunities to get more involved in the Hilltown Seed Saving Network. \nThis year\, you can come as early as 12 noon to drop off your seeds to share.  We appreciate seeds that come labeled with variety name\, source\, and year or date saved.  Please note that you don’t have to bring seed to come to this event. We welcome people at all levels of experience\, including those who have never saved seed before. \nAs always\, we encourage everyone who is bringing seed to the event to list it online using our Virtual Seed Bank.  Once you have registered (a quick and easy process)\, you will be able to browse varieties that other people in the Hilltowns are saving and bringing to the Seed Exchange. \nThe suggested donation for this event is a sliding scale of $5 – $10.\nFor more information\, visit our website or contact Sadie at 413-475-2692. \nWe look forward to another fun and inspiring seed exchange!  See you there! \nThe HSSN Steering Committee
