SUMMARY:Northeast Sustainable Agriculture Working Group 2015 Conference

We offer in-depth working sessions and provocative dialogues that tackle important questions about our regional food system and how to strengthen it. We draw upon exciting local and regional efforts\, including alternative supply chain networks\, research projects\, infrastructure initiatives and policy advocacy. \nMake sure you have a seat at the table\, and come with your sleeves rolled up.  It takes a region\, after all!

SUMMARY:New England Log Carrier
DESCRIPTION:Join the New England Felting Supply to make a uniquely New England gift for yourself or others.  Participants will be felting and constructing a very durable log carrier from local wools. To decorate the carrier\, we’ve purchased 12 sets of heavy woolen quilt squares made at the famous Johnson Woolen mill in Vermont. Each student will choose one set of patterened wool fabric and coordinating leather handles in natural leather tones that will be hand-sewn to the heavy felt. No experience is necessary\, but making the felt requires standing most of the first day\, so some degree of physical endurance is assumed. \nRegister Here

SUMMARY:Soup and games for former grange
DESCRIPTION:This month’s Free Soup and Game Night at the Hope and Olive restaurant will benefit the Montague Common Hall. \nThe hall by the village square in Montague Center was until recent years the Montague Grange\, and continues to host events and house historical documents. \nThe Greenfield restaurant at the corner of Hope and Olive streets holds a monthly fundraiser with free soup and bread and donations sought for a different organization each month. The doors will be open from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday with a cash bar\, free soup and bread\, a bake sale and a raffle. Organizers note that Greenfield’s free holiday parking in town lots is in effect. \nOrganizers say that while volunteers have been happy to roll up their sleeves for painting and yard work\, the building needs significant upgrades including handicapped access\, insulation\, drainage in the basement and energy-efficient lighting.
