SUMMARY:Working Group: Race & the Food System
DESCRIPTION:The Race and the Food System Working Group understands racism to be a form of injustice that is tied to all forms of injustice\, including those existing within the Pioneer Valley food system. To build a healthy food system\, we must work to eliminate the disparities and inequities that remain in it. \nWe believe an understanding of the internal biases\, social determinants\, and structural powers that inform racism is essential to community efforts to increase fair labor practices\, food access/sovereignty\, environmental equity\, and more. \nThis First PVGros “Race and the Food System” event will include a viewing and discussion of Cracking the Codes: The System of Racial Inequality facilitated by Kamilah Weeks (PVGrows\, CISA\, Smith College) & Anne Richmond (Gardening the Community\, Undoing Racism Organizing Collective). \nLunch will be provided.  To register for this event join the Race and the Food System Working Group.
