The tree will be felled previous to the workshop\, and the spores finally have arrived. \nTime: May 4\, Saturday\, 3 pm to 5 pm (and if we are not finished\, also on May 11\, Saturday\, 3pm to 5pm)\nLocation: 44 Beston street (Gabor’s house) \nThe process: \n\nCutting log to manageable lengths and clean it from branches\,\nDrilling holes into logs\,\nApplying spores via inoculated plugs into the logs by hammering the plugs into the holes\,\nProtecting the filled holes by waxing the surface\,\nPlacing the logs to a moist location without direct sunlight.\n\nThe logs\, treated this way\, will produce the first batch of mushrooms in roughly a year\, and for several times a year for several years thereafter. \nPlease let Gabor know you are planning on coming: we will be using power drills and other tools\, so our numbers are important for the logistics of organization. \nWorkshop is free of charge. Logs for you can be arranged at cost.

DESCRIPTION:Co-op Power’s 9th Annual Sustainability Summit will be held on Saturday\, May 11th at Hampshire College in Amherst\, MA from 9:00AM-4:00PM. Our Annual Meeting will directly follow the Summit from 4-6:30 and all are welcome to attend.\n \nThe Summit is a great opportunity to share ideas with like-minded people on topics from green business development and community finance to sustainable heating options and green energy. It?s a chance to figure out what resources are available going forward.\n \nWe expect vibrant discussions about our society and our environment. \nKeynote speaker\, Halina Brown\, of Clark University and the Sustainable Consumption Action and Research Initiative\, will speak on the interconnection of consumerism\, technology\, environmental destruction\, and the need to develop new cooperative-based economies.\n \nWe want to make sure that activist groups and people passionate about the environment and social justice have a place at the summit to add their excitement and expertise! There are a few options of ways to be involved:\n \n1) Sponsor or exhibit at the Summit- Booths cost $100 for non-profits\,\n$150 for for-profit businesses. The exhibit area is in the courtyard of Franklin Patterson Hall at Hampshire College. You’ll get a 10×10 space\, one six-foot table\, and two chairs. We recommend bringing a tent in case of rain and/or sun.\n \n2) Become a community sponsor. We recognize that many activist organizations don’t have a big budget. However\, you do have human capital.  You can become a community sponsor by helping to promote the Sustainability Summit.\n \nHere’s how it works:\n \nContact elizabeth@cooppower.coop to say you’d like to become a community sponsor. Elizabeth will create a promotional code just for your organization. You distribute the code to people in your network. \nThe code gets them 10% off the registration cost when they sign up online!\n \nWe track how many people use your unique promotional code.
