SUMMARY:Speed Trading for Local Food Producers and Buyers & Marketing Plan Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Speed Marketing Plan Workshop & Speed Trading!\n \nSpeed Marketing Plan Workshop: 10:00am-12:00pm \nA Speed Marketing Plan is the Fastest Way to Increase Sales \nWant to increase sales for your farm or food business? Get more accounts? Attract more CSA subscribers? Do you have a plan for how to achieve your goals? A marketing plan works like a GPS to keep you headed in the right direction. Learn the four steps for creating a speed marketing plan. Lunch is included in admission for people attending both the Marketing Workshop and Speed Trading Event. Food buyers and people attending only the marketing workshop can purchase lunch for $10 during registration. After lunch we will transition into the speed trading event for local food producers and buyers. \nSpeed Trading: 1:00-3:00pm \nThis event will encourage buyers and producers of local food to connect and form new relationships on a one on one level. Producers will set up tables showcasing their products and will have approximately 5 minutes to meet with each buyer. If after talking the producer and buyer feel that they can create a trade relationship\, a match has been made! \nFood businesses can register for both the speed trading event and the workshop\, or only the workshop. The workshop is free for members of SBN and Central Mass Grown. \nEvent Agenda \n\nRegistration- 9:30am\nWorkshop- 10:00am – 12:00pm\nNetworking Lunch- 12:00pm -1:00pm\nSpeed Trading- 1:00pm -3:00pm\n\nFind more info and register here

After a decade living in the United States\, Asori Soto returns to his homeland of Cuba to search for the missing flavors of his childhood – a journey to discover culinary traditions long thought lost due to the hardship that Cuba survived after the collapse of the Soviet Union. SUMMARY:Grazing for Change
DESCRIPTION:Wildlife biologist Allan Savory\, originator of Holistic Management and Holistic Planned Grazing (aka Adaptive Multi-paddock Grazing)\, will be in Keene\, New Hampshire on Friday\, September 21st\, to celebrate Stonewall Farm becoming a member of the Savory Institute’s Global Hub Network. \nAs you may know\, Savory’s revolutionary insights enable humanity to swiftly restore ecological health and fertility to degraded pastures and grasslands\, even – for the first time in history – in the driest and least hospitable regions on the planet. Crucially\, healing the Earth in this way offers the potential to capture in soil billions of tons of atmospheric carbon annually. \nSavory will be leading a Pasture Walk at Stonewall Farm in the morning of the 21st\, and giving a keynote address that evening at Keene High School. In the afternoon\, a panel session will feature representatives from Stonyfield Farm\, the yoghurt manufacturer (Stonewall is a supplier to Stonyfield)\, and Badger Organic Skin Care products. My colleague\, Soil4Climate cofounder Seth Itzkan\, and I will also be speaking. \nAdmission is limited to 50 people for the events happening during the day\, so REGISTER NOW to secure a spot. The auditorium at Keene High School can accommodate 800+ people so everyone who wishes to should be able to attend the evening talk by Savory (who turns 83 this month). Details and tickets here.

SUMMARY:Forgotten Farms: Farm Aid Film Screening
DESCRIPTION:Farm-Fresh Refreshments at 6:30pm \nOnly 100 years
ago\, New England produced most of its own food on 16 million acres of farmland. In the past 50 years\, the region has lost over 10\,000 dairy farms. Today\, fewer than 2\,000 farms remain\, covering 1.2 million acres of farmland and producing almost all of the milk
consumed regionally. As we strive to revive local and regional food systems\, we have much to learn from dairy farmers who have managed most of the farmland and sustained the region’s farm economy all along. Farm Aid is pleased to host a screening of Forgotten Farms\, followed by a panel discussion on the nature of the dairy crisis rolling out across the country\, what’s at stake in the Northeast as more dairy farmers go out of business\, and how people are rallying for long-term solutions. \nPanelists: \n\nSarah Gardner\, Forgotten Farms producer\nEllen Whitlow\, House of Hayes Farm/Sweet Pea Cheese\nBonnie Burr\, University of Connecticut-Extension\nPatty Edelberg\, National Farmers Union
