DESCRIPTION:After catching a glimpse of the billions of dollars of good food that is tossed each year in North America\, filmmakers Jen Rustemeyer and Grant Baldwin pledge to quit grocery shopping cold turkey and survive only on discarded food in their film\, JUST EAT IT.\n \nJUST EAT IT brings farmers\, retailers\, organizations\, and consumers to the table to examine why nearly 50% of our food ends up in the trash. Equal parts education and delicious entertainment\, the film looks at our obsession with expiration dates\, perfect produce\, and portion sizes and reveals the global consequences of food waste.\n \nCongressman Jim McGovern\, Food Bank of Western Massachusetts Executive Director Andrew Morehouse\, and Gideon Porth of Atlas Farm will discuss food waste and food rescue.\n\n“Food waste has a profound impact on food insecurity and hunger\,” Morehouse said\, “and the film reveals how prevalent food waste is in our country.
