Yellow and red watermelons\, plus muskmelons and honeydews will be available to taste by variety\, including Peace\, Dark Star\, Little Baby Flower\, Honey Ice\, and more. Sweet and juicy watermelons in the summertime! The event is free and open to the public. \nWhether you’re picking up your CSA share or just doing some shopping\, be sure to take a break to enjoy some of the wonderful melons that Red Fire is growing this season! Our melons are at stands and markets now each day and week.

DESCRIPTION:Every year\, we have an unbelievable selection of amazing and often award-winning tomatoes for you to taste. \nIt’s a great day at the farm\, with everything from hay rides to cooking demonstrations to live music to crafters and a smorgasbord of local fare from area producers. Come and visit the Granby stand! \nFestival open 12-6 PM. \nWe aren’t holding our Tomato Trot 5K this year\, though you could still come do a field run in the morning if you like. \nGuest Chefs & Workshops in the barn!\n12:00 PM – Smoothies with Local Ingredients – Learn some great recipes that you can take home with you and taste samples of fresh smoothies!\n1:00 PM – Making Your Own Kimchi and Sauerkraut – learn how to make kimchi\, a traditional Korean side dish\, lacto-fermented and full of probiotics. More tips for home fermentation of foods!\n2:00 PM – How to Make Fresh Ricotta to go with your Tomato Salad\, plus Tomatillo Salsa – Mary Nelen\, aka the Valley Locavore\, will teach the recipes and give out samples!\n3:00 PM – Home Preservation Workshop – tips for preserving all the summer’s bounty for fall and winter delights.\n4:00 PM – Shakshuka: An Isreali Stewed Tomato Dish with many variations – Chef and Edible Pioneer Valley editor in chief Mary Reilly will teach us how to make this scrumptious dish in many ways. \nWild Edibles Walk\n1:30 and 3:30 PM – Wild Edibles Walk with Jean Bergstrom of Plant Spirit Medicine\nTour the wild parts of the farm to find what you can eat! \nMusic and Performance Stage (times tbd)\nViolet Maeve\nLarry Dulong and Random Sightings\nWill Kindler\nStay tuned…  \nKids Activities\n12-5 All kinds of free fun events for all ages.
