Equipment Operator and Assistant Farm Mechanic

The Equipment Operator and Assistant Mechanic position is focused on field crop production and assisting the Farm Mechanic with the maintenance and repair of farm equipment and facilities. Equipment work includes field preparation, planting, cultivation, pest and disease control, and other production practices. This position is heavily centered on equipment work and applicants should have at least 2 years experience operating tractors and other farm equipment and a knowledge of vegetable production practices in New England. Experience with general farm mechanics and handyman skills are also required. The Equipment Operator and Assistant Mechanic works closely with the farm mechanic, farm owner and the rest of the management staff and should have strong communication skills, attention to detail, ability to multi-task and ability to adapt quickly to the ever changing farm environment. This position requires 50+ hours per week during the main growing season of April-November with part-time off season work, as well.
