Hiring: Farm Assistant – Small Ones Farm

Small Ones Farm is accepting applications to join our team as a Farm Assistant.  Small Ones Farm is 63-acre family-owned farm in South Amherst, MA.  We grow tree fruit (peaches, Asian pears, plums, and over 50 varieties of apples), raspberries, gourds, pumpkins and garlic.  We use natural growing methods (holistic and certified through the Certified Naturally Grown program).  Our primary sales outlets are our fruit CSA and our on-farm farm stand.

We seek a Farm Assistant to work with us from August through October, 2019.  As Farm Assistant, you will assist with core farm tasks, including harvesting bush- and tree-fruit; orchard maintenance (e.g., mowing); weeding vegetable beds; infrastructure maintenance; farm stand operation; and preparing for community events.  You will be part of a team, including farm owners, Farm Manager, and interns.  At least one season of farm experience preferred.  Farm Assistants’ compensation is $12/hr, approximately 20 hours per week.  Farmer-grade

Qualifications include enthusiasm, initiative, ability to work independently as well as part of a team, and strong interpersonal skills.  Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and valid driver’s license also required.
