Hiring: Farmers’ Market Assistants – Atlas Farm

Boston-based Farmers Market Assistants work alongside other market staff to load and unload the farm truck, set up and break down the market stand, manage produce displays, and assist customers. The hours for these seasonal positions are Tuesdays and Fridays from 9am-7pm (20 hours/week). The farmers market begins in May 10th and runs through November.

These positions are well-suited to applicants with some work experience in both farming and retail, and a strong interest in learning more about the production and marketing of organic produce. Applicants must possess strong communication skills and be comfortable taking direction in a fast-paced work environment. Excellent customer service skills are required for this position — applicants must be personable, patient, and passionate about organic agriculture and “eating local.”

Like other farm and retail jobs, this position can be physically and mentally demanding. Applicants must be able to work efficiently with minimal breaks, maintain a good attitude in all weather conditions, stand for extended periods, and lift 50 pounds.

Compensation for this position is commensurate with experience. Farmers Market staff also receive plentiful free organic produce throughout the season.
