Hiring: Greenhouse Manager – Next Barn Over Farm

Responsibilities

The NBO Greenhouse Manager runs greenhouse-based transplant production for 30 acres of crop production. This includes but is not limited to: inventorying and sourcing all greenhouse supplies, implementing propagation schedules, greenhouse record keeping, monitoring greenhouse equipment, pest and disease scouting, and watering. The Greenhouse Manager trains and supervises seasonal staff in greenhouse protocols, propagation techniques, watering and venting. The Greenhouse Manager also maintains communication with the farm manager to ensure timely coordination of transplant production and field preparation.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience in organic agriculture preferred
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, ability to clearly train others in greenhouse protocols, and communicate regularly with farm manager
  • Highly organized with a keen attention to detail
  • Demonstrated competence working in greenhouse transplant production
  • Positive and outgoing attitude
  • Some Spanish preferred
  • Proficiency in excel

Schedule

This is a part-time, part-season position. The Greenhouse Manager joins us in late February and works part-time (~20 hours/week) through October. The Greenhouse Manager works 2 days per week seeding, transplanting, and maintaining the greenhouse, and also performs regular watering/monitoring on other days, including weekends. This position may be combined with another role at the farm for the right candidate.

Compensation

We offer a competitive hourly wage, beginning at $13/hour with higher wages offered to candidates with considerable experience.
