Hiring: Greenhouse Manager – Red Fire Farm
Red Fire Farm, a leader in organic vegetable production, seeks an experienced horticulturalist to manage its more than 20,000 square feet of greenhouse space. Applicants must have a degree in horticulture, vegetable science, floriculture or a related field, or have five or more years of experience working in a commercial greenhouse position. The position begins this fall; salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
The Greenhouse Manager at Red Fire will generate our yearly bedding plant growing plan and oversee the seeding and care of plants for bedding plant enterprise. We grow bedding plants for our own retail outlets in additional to wholesale customers and other farms. The Greenhouse Manager is also responsible for the seeding and care for our field plants, as defined by our field crop plan, which is generated by the farm manager. Red Fire has more than 100 acres in cultivation for its own vegetable operation.
Work in the greenhouse kicks off our busy growing season and we need a manager who is able to execute seeding plans, manage our eager crew and tend to plants from propagation, to potting up and until they are delivered to our retail outlets and customers. The Greenhouse Manager is also the point person between the farm and bedding plant customers and candidates should have strong communication skills.
The Greenhouse Manager will help hire greenhouse assistants, and supervise that staff as well as other farm crew during the greenhouse production season. Salary competitive, dependent on experience level.
