Hiring: Office Assistant – Red Fire Farm

Red Fire Farm is looking for an Office Assistant. We’re looking for someone who enjoys and excels at working with and supporting others, who is highly organized, and who is passionate about local, sustainable agriculture. Over the year, work at the farm will vary considerably, and the focus of your work will change over the seasons. You’ll have a hand in supporting our farmers’ markets and retail store, our bulk and wholesale orders, and general bits and pieces around the office. This position is approximately 10-15 hours per week, with seasonal variation.

Farmers’ Market and Retail Responsibilities

  • Organize existing market signs for produce and bedding plants, and create new ones as needed
  • Work with Marketing Coordinator to ensure that promotional materials are distributed
  • Maintain and organize farmers’ market supplies (weekly, as well as general inventory)
  • Stock materials for sampling and clean sampling utensils

Bulk Order Management Responsibilities

  • Update the Bulk Order form weekly with input from Logistics and Packing Barn
  • Receive and process bulk orders weekly, ensuring that orders are received by Packing Barn in a timely manner
  • Respond to customer inquiries
  • Utilize marketing platforms to promote seasonal bulk items
  • Track payments for orders, maintain database for unpaid orders, and contact customers to facilitate timely payments

General Office Responsibilities

  • Answer phones and facilitate office communication
  • Assist with CSA program administration in peak seasons
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain comprehensive knowledge of farm operations and services (CSA, retail, markets, etc.)
  • Contribute to cleanliness and organization of office space
  • Assist with office tasks and seasonal help for other positions as needed
  • Manage weekly printing of labels for wholesale orders and maintain inventory of blank labels
  • Distribute communications materials locally

Job Requirements and Competencies

  • Some knowledge of sustainable agriculture, locally grown crops, or farm operations preferred
  • Ability to provide outgoing and professional customer service at all times
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills
  • Ability to organize tasks efficiently, maintain focus, and work according to a schedule
  • Flexibility, patience, and willingness to learn
  • Willingness to improve farm operations by identifying problems and developing solutions
  • Must be comfortable self-motivating as well as taking direction from senior staff members
  • Willingness to assist co-workers with necessary or requested tasks (they will do the same for you!)
