Hiring: Sales and Marketing Manager – Warner Farm

Warner Farm is a 10th generation diversified small fruit and vegetable farm located in Sunderland, Ma. We grow over 150 acres of both IPM (125 ac.) and certified organic (25 ac.) crops for wholesale throughout the Pioneer Valley as well as operate a 425-member CSA and attend farmers markets in Eastern Massachusetts. In the fall, Warner Farm is home to Mike’s Maze, the Pioneer Valley’s world famous corn maze, and Zombie Night Patrol, our premier haunted paintball attraction. Job Description

This position is responsible for overseeing and managing the sales and marketing components of the farm business while promoting a positive image of Warner Farm to staff and customers. This includes our existing 50+ wholesale accounts, ranging from restaurants to national grocery chains, our 425-member CSA program, and 2 farmer’s markets. The manager is responsible for all administrative and customer service components of these three important aspects of our business. This includes managing wholesale accounts by coordinating daily orders, overseeing the production of weekly CSA shares for the 20-week season, coordinating our late fall bulk share drop off, and managing the produce sold through 2 farmer’s markets. This key manager is responsible for communicating directly with the public to ensure customer satisfaction with respect to all aspects of our farm business from produce sales to agritainment. This position reports to the CSA & Organic General Manager.

Duties Include

communicating with wholesale customers to ensure orders are timely and accurate; establishing availability lists; communicating with farmers and distributing lists to customers on a weekly basis; compiling orders and creating invoices daily; coordinating daily harvests with crew leaders and other farm management; coordinating daily deliveries and pick-ups; managing, tracking, and overseeing the distribution of all CSA shares and add-ons (fruit, eggs, and flowers); directly overseeing the Packing Coordinator and CSA/market staff (4-5 people), developing schedules for farmer’s market staff; coordinating with the Farm General Managers to develop the weekly share list; managing and communicating with our CSA membership base using Small Farm Central and MailChimp; helping to coordinate harvests with other farm management to ensure shares are accurate and cost effective; answering questions and emails from CSA members in a timely and courteous manner; coordinating and overseeing the one-time bulk fall share drop off; tracking overall CSA budget including expenses and income and providing end-of-year summary; answering general questions from the public about all aspects of Warner Farm; and coordinating with other farm management to ensure the completion of necessary daily tasks. Flexibility, cooperation, and a team approach are essential in the completion of all duties.

Requirements
  • 2 years experience in customer service
  • 2 years management/supervisory experience
  • 2 years sales and/or marketing experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, MailChimp, and Quickbooks
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently, and be flexible
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude
Preferred
  • Previous farm experience
  • Ability to lift 40 lb.
  • Ability to operate a pallet jack
  • Commitment to small, family-owned business and/or farm business
  • Interest in long-term, full-season employment

This is a year-round position requiring up to 60 hours per week during the height of the season (May-October) and decreasing to 10-20 hours a week during the winter. $14-15/hr.
