Hiring: Stewardship Planner – Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources
he Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources’ (MDAR) mission is to help keep the Massachusetts’ food supply safe and secure, and to work to keep Massachusetts agriculture economically and environmentally sound.
MDAR’s Division of Agricultural Conservation and Technical Assistance protects agricultural land and provides farmers with the tools and funding to ensure the sound stewardship of agricultural land. A key program within the division is the Agricultural Preservation Restriction (APR) Program which preserves and protects agricultural land from being built upon for non-agricultural purposes or used for any activity detrimental to agriculture and to maintain APR land values at a level that can be supported by the land’s agricultural uses and potential. The Program began as an act of the Legislature in 1979, was the first in our nation and has since been a model upon which many other states have built their programs. The Massachusetts APR Program has permanently protected over 900 farms and a total land area of over 72,000 acres.
The Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (MDAR) is accepting resumes and applications for the position of Agricultural Preservation Restriction Program Stewardship Planner (Regional Planner III). The position will be based in our Western Massachusetts office which is in West Springfield.
