Hiring: UConn Plant Science Research Farm Manager
The Department of Plant Science and Landscape Architecture at the University of Connecticut is currently searching for a new research farm manager. The research farm is located one mile south of the main UConn campus in Storrs, CT (Google map: https://goo.gl/maps/s5Lmp5XrCYkYnuqN7). This 100+ acre research facility supports research, outreach, and teaching activities of 15+ faculty and professional staff and their associated graduate students and postdoctoral researchers. These activities include turfgrass, ecology, entomology, agroforestry, plant pathology, forages, field crops, soils, sustainable agriculture, vegetables, weed ecology and control, and woody and herbaceous ornamentals.
We are seeking a knowledgeable, experienced, and creative individual to fill this position. The selected candidate will be responsible for leading and supervising farm staff, maintaining facilities infrastructure including 100+ pieces of equipment, an automated in-ground irrigation system, and on-site repair shop, greenhouses, and cold frame. Minimum qualifications are a Bachelor’s degree and at least six years of relevant experience, including supervisory experience.
