No-till Vegetable Production in Living Mulch at Waltham Fields Community Farm

Come take a tour of Waltham Fields Community Farm on August 14th, from 4-6:30pm. 

We’ll be learning about the farm operation, and digging deep into their recent tillage reduction systems.

Waltham Fields Community Farm uses a perennial clover living mulch to suppress weeds, reduce plastic use, and increase soil health. After learning about how they implemented this living clover mulch experiment, NOFA/Mass’s Ruben Parilla will demonstrate the use of a tool to measure microbial biomass and fungal:bacterial ratio as a measure of how no-till practices affect overall soil health.

Accessibility: This event will involve walking around on farmland terrain – it is generally flat, but rugged. There are two portapotties on site; one is wheelchair accessible.
