Three Women’s Passion for Plants: Cut Flowers & Garden Design

Bug Hill is having a July workshop on the farm! Mix one award-winning botanical illustrator*, with a renaissance-style florist & caterer**, and add an MHS award-winning garden designer & grower*** and you have a recipe for an afternoon of hands-on learning!

Participants will learn essential elements of floral and garden design. Tour the farm gardens to see design principles in action & cut and arrange your own take-home bouquets facilitated by instructors. Plant lists, further resources, and refreshments are included.

*Beverly Duncan is an award-winning botanical artist, the first to receive Best in Show at the annual exhibition of the Horticultural Society of New York and the American Society of Botanical Artists, of which she is a member. Her work is in corporate and private collections around the world. She teaches Botanical Drawing and Paintings classes at the Hill Institute, as well as private lessons in Ashfield where she resides.

**Gloria Pecosa is the owner and principle designer of Gloriosa & Co. at The Curtis House, a wedding venue, B+B, catering and floral design company. Recently she has expanded her gardens to a small scale field-to-vase farm and sells cut flowers to local florists and co-ops, as well as for use in her own designs. In 2017 she will be expanding further with the addition of a 1911 Lutton glass greenhouse addition to her newly renovated barn.

***Kate Kerivan, owner of Bug Hill Farm, was awarded a gold medal from Massachusetts Horticultural Society and the Arnold Arboretum for her use of unusual hardy plants, and has an M.A. in ecological landscape design from Conway School of Landscape Design, and an M.S. in Environmental Studies.  She has been an educator and avid plantswoman for over 30 years.
