Food for Good: Cultivating Sustainable Solutions to Hunger in Massachusetts

October 30, 2015

In partnership with the Office of Congressman James McGovern, Community Action of the Franklin, Hampshire and North Quabbin Regions, Massachusetts Food Banks, and social service and hunger advocacy organizations across the state, we invite you to save the date for Food for Good: Cultivating Sustainable Solutions to Hunger in Massachusetts, a statewide conference on hunger to be held at UMass Amherst on October 30, 2015. The goals for the conference include sharing innovations and promising practices across regions, becoming better informed about the food security needs of all of our communities, and identifying sustainable solutions that can be implemented on the state and local levels.

The lunch speaker for this conference is Dr. Deborah A. Frank, the Founder and Principal Investigator of Children’s HealthWatch and a recently appointed member of the National Commission on Hunger. Her research interests include examining cumulative risk factors in children’s household, such as food, energy, and housing insecurity and their impact on children’s health and development.

Also invited is Congressman James McGovern, U.S. Representative to the Massachusetts 2nd Congressional district. Congressman McGovern is a national champion of hunger and food security issues and since 2013 has conducted a series of speeches focused on ending hunger called “#EndHungerNow”. We hope you can join us on October 30 for this important statewide conversation. Invitations and more information will be sent out closer to the event. If you have any questions please contact Holly Kosisky at hkosisky@communityaction.us.
