Livestock in your Backyard with Jessica van Steensburg

In this community workshop you will be introduced to the techniques needed to raise your own pork and meat-chicken right in your back yard. Benefiting from the heritage hogs and slow-grow meat birds that find their home at the Greenfield Community Farm, we will cover the basics of breed selection, infrastructure needs, nutrition and daily maintenance considerations as well as slaughter and butcher options. Please note, this is an introductory level workshop which is not designed to go in-depth on any of the topics mentioned above but rather will cover best-practices that have been used over the years by the speaker herself.
