Workshop: Backyard Chickens

Do you want to add a backyard flock to your home? Raising chickens is a fun and rewarding pastime, and it is a wonderful place to start if you’re interested in livestock. Chickens can provide eggs, meat, fertilizer and companionship. They are simple to care for, but the first year is always the most trying. We’re here to make your first year with chickens as smooth as possible!
We’ll be discussing: what to expect from day-olds to adulthood, the basics of care & health, how to be prepared, and tips and tricks for things like increasing egg production, avoiding predators and encouraging good bird behavior.
