Workshop on the Agricultural Justice Project (AJP) Food Justice Certification

November 20, 2014 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Come learn more about the Agricultural Justice Project’s (AJP’s) Food Justice Certification and the movement to ensure fair treatment of workers, fair pricing for farmers, and fair business practices in all agricultural production. The purpose of this workshop is to provide the concrete information and documentation farmers and food businesses need to live up to the claim of social justice. First a viewing of Hungry for Justice, a short film about a local Florida farm and their commitment to focus on social justice. Then we will explore the Agricultural Justice Project standards for farms and food businesses and we will discuss together how to create a workplace that has a comprehensive approach to justice and equity, including conflict resolution, democratic and cooperative structures, fair labor policies, health and safety.

Speakers include Elizabeth Henderson, organic farmer, author of Sharing the Harvest, and founding member of the Agricultural Justice Project (AJP); and Jessica Culley, an organizer at the New-Jersey based Comité de Apoyo a los Trabajadores Agrícolas (CATA).

As a farmer or food business interested in increasing your understanding and implementation of social justice in your operation, this is the workshop to attend! The workshop is free and dinner will be provided. PLEASE RSVP to Jon Magee at mageejp@gmail.com or (413) 774-0116.
