Workshop: Small-Scale Orcharding for the Homeowner

Seasonal workshop on tree fruit growing at Brook Farm Orchard located in the Apple Valley section of Ashfield, Massachusetts and taught by orchardist Alan Surprenant.

The Workshop will include the following topics:

• Hands-on grafting
• Tree planting
• Spraying for pests and disease
• Making your own sprays and fertilizers

You will complete the workshop with a fruit tree you’ve grafted to take home and plant. Last but not least, local hard cider tasting after the workshop!

Coffee, tea, cider and morning snacks will be provided. Bring your own brown bag lunch.
There is a 12 person limit per workshop.

Future seasonal workshops will include: Fruit harvest, varietal tasting, storage of fruit and fresh cider making, mowing, composting, fertilizing, rodent control and tasks for the orchard year. We will also explore orcharding resource sharing.
