Hiring: Assistant Growers – Food Bank Farm
Food Bank Farms, a non-profit farm located in Hadley, MA, is seeking Full- and/or Part-time Assistant Grower(s)(24-40 hours a week) who will assist in all aspects of vegetable production including seeding, transplanting, weed management, harvesting, washing and packing produce. We will be a small crew and will work with volunteers to distribute our food to our local food agencies.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate has farming and/or gardening experience, interest in developing their farming/gardening skills, and commitment to the FBF’s mission and purpose. Candidates must be able to safely lift and carry 50 lbs maybe more on occasion, be able to work in all weather conditions, work weekends. In addition, a positive attitude, strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to be as productive as possible are essential to our season’s success. Reliable transportation is also needed.
Duration: The position begins in April and goes through October (possibly into November). Start and end dates can be flexible depending on personal schedules or applicant availability. We encourage someone for the full season but will hire the right person. Hours during the main season are 8am-4pm, with a paid 45-minute lunch
Compensation: Compensation starts at $17/hr with higher potential deepening on experience.
