Equipment Operator Position

Warner Farm is a 10th-generation diversified small fruit and vegetable farm located in Sunderland, Massachusetts. We grow more than 150 acres of crops,125 acres using IPM practices and 25 acres certified organic, for wholesale markets throughout the Pioneer Valley. We also operate a U-Pick strawberry farm during the season. In the fall, Warner Farm is home to Mike’s Maze, the Pioneer Valley’s world-famous corn maze. In 2018, Warner Farm purchased Millstone Farm Market, a year-round convenience grocery store serving Sunderland and the surrounding Pioneer Valley with fine meats, deli items, fresh produce, general groceries, and unique gifts. Job Description

The Equipment Operator position focuses on the field production of the 20+ crops grown at Warner Farm. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, field preparation, planting, transplanting, cultivating, pest management, irrigation, harvesting, mowing, pruning, and greenhouse tasks.

Warner Farm operates as a small, tight-knit team that communicates frequently to ensure daily farm tasks are completed efficiently. The ideal candidate is hard-working, dependable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Duties Include

• Operating tractors and farm equipment for tillage, cultivation, mowing, transplanting, and other field operations
• Assisting with fieldwork, including irrigation setup, harvesting crops, weeding, and mulching
• Assisting with greenhouse production and management
• Performing local pickups and deliveries in a timely manner
• Completing other farm tasks as assigned

• A strong work ethic
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to work independently and stay organized

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous farm experience and tractor operation
• Customer service experience

Compensation

Compensation is commensurate with experience, with an hourly rate of $24–$28/hour.

Benefits include all the fresh fruit and vegetables you can eat and fall passes to Mike’s Maze. End of year bonuses are given based on performance and successful growing season. This is a seasonal position, with an ideal start date in mid-April and running through early November, though these dates are flexible.
