Hiring: Farm Hand – Crow River Farm/Scantic Valley CSA

Scantic Valley CSA is a collaboration of small farms in East Longmeadow, MA.  We currently have 3 – 4 acres under cultivation in two locations (about 1 mile apart), where we grow all-natural veggies, fruits and herbs for the CSA, farm stand, and a local juice bar.

Job Details and Responsibilities:

The field hand will assist the farmers in many aspects of farm operations.  These include greenhouse work, planting, fertilizing, weeding, harvesting, distribution, and general farm maintenance.

Schedule:

25-30 hrs/wk from June to October.  Monday-Friday with flexibility around hours and unpaid time off.

Skills and qualifications:

Previous on-farm experience is desirable but not required.  This could be an ideal position for someone who wants to “get their feet wet” on a farm.  Farm hand must have physical strength and endurance to lift (40-50 lbs) and work in the field long hours in all weather conditions. Individual must be able to work independently on tasks as well as collaboratively with crew.

Wages & compensation:

$9-10 hourly wage with paid morning break (during 8+ hr. workdays), plus produce from the farm.
