Hiring: Flower Assistant – Red Fire Farm

Job description:

Red Fire Farm is looking for someone with a strong work ethic and a creative eye to work in our flower and greenhouse departments. We can help train folks with beginning to intermediate backgrounds in cut flowers to assist in growing and harvesting the CSA flower shares and bouquets for our markets and wholesale orders. This position gets to see lots of beauty every day!

The ideal candidate has farm experience and a passion for fieldwork that will see them caring for our flower crop, from transplanting to bouquet making for our flower CSA, markets, and wholesale accounts. The flower assistant must be available late June through October at least.

Responsibilities

• Seed vegetable and flower starts and assist with greenhouse tomato care
• Propagation, transplanting, and general care of greenhouse plants
• Watering and venting greenhouse (includes weekend work rotations)
• Fieldwork including weeding, harvesting, and cultivation of flowers
• Preparation of bouquets for scheduled deliveries
• Assistance with greenhouse and vegetable farm activities, as needed
• Driver’s license and good driving record required
• Must be able to lift heavy objects (up to 30-50 lbs) and work in all weather

Schedule

Position begins late June and runs through October. Winter work in other farm departments may be available.

Hours

Typical hours are 7 AM to 5 PM Monday through Thursday with a lunch break, plus occasional weekend greenhouse watering as needed.
