Mass Mobile Markets: Kick-Off Event

In collaboration, the Department of Agricultural Resources and the Department of Transitional Assistance will host an event to showcase the Massachusetts’ Mobile Markets, also kicking-off the statewide 2014 Farmers’ Market Tours.

The purpose of this mobile market event is to highlight the five Mobile Market models across the state; to demonstrate the kinds of healthy food choices people can make at mobile markets in providing access to fresh, affordable, local fruits and vegetables; to raise awareness and promote mobile markets as viable points of access for SNAP and WIC clients to utilize their benefits (also Senior and WIC FM coupons, “matching” programs); and to promote local farmers and agri-business that provide fresh, affordable, locally grown fruits and vegetables. Throughout the summer there will be mobile markets in Springfield, Somerville, Worcester, Lowell, and Boston.
