Hiring: Program Manager – All Farmers

Job Type & Schedule
Salaried 32-40 hrs/wk. Flexible scheduling. Some evening and weekend hours required. Review of applicants begins December 6, 2021 with an anticipated start date on or before January 17, 2022.

Location
Primary work responsibilities in Springfield, MA and West Springfield, MA; remote office work; some travel required. Access to a vehicle is required.

Compensation
Salaried $48k -$56k per year FTE, commensurate with experience. Paid vacation/holiday time. All Farmers is a young organization and currently exploring additional benefits.

Summary
Our work is complex, our team and constituents are diverse. The Program Manager will be responsible for designing and implementing programs to address layered problems, using systems and tools that are in line with farmers’ strengths and limitations, that value the process as well as the result, and are culturally sensitive. We are seeking commitment, creativity, and humility. A commitment to social and racial justice is integral to this work and required of all candidates.

All Farmers seeks a Program Manager to oversee education and marketing programs. The Program Manager will report to the Executive Director, and supervise Peer Teachers and farmers’ market staff. Strong candidates will demonstrate initiative, leadership, and follow-through, as well as the ability to understand complex challenges and engage the community to collaboratively problem-solve.

About
All Farmers supports autonomous groups of refugee and immigrant farmers in western Massachusetts. We understand the barriers immigrant and refugee farmers face from a social justice perspective, and work with the farmers to support their success in spite of the systemic barriers they face. Our strategic priorities are directed by the farmers collectively and through farmer representation on the Board of Directors. All Farmers works with over 60 farming families, who share four farm sites. Current farmers come from 10 countries, and predominantly speak Maai Maai, Nepali, and Kiswahili, as well as Kirundi and Congolese.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities
● Develop peer teacher program to support the strategic direction of the organization
● Coordinate implementation of programming to support strategic goals
● Assess program strengths; identify areas for improvement; adapt programming to best meet strategic goals
● Manage a team with a diverse array of talents and responsibilities
● Communicate with farmers and community members, including through meetings and trainings
● Collaborate on strategy with the Executive Director
● Support writing grant proposals and fundraising initiatives for programming

Qualifications

Experience:
● Experience living and/or working with diverse communities (preferred)
● Previous experience managing multiple project and goals (includes unpaid community programming) (required)
● Supervisory experience (required)
● Teaching and curriculum development experience (strongly preferred)
● Business and/or marketing experience; farming experience (preferred)

Skills:
● Proficient written English abilities (required); excellent written communication abilities in English preferred
● Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Google Docs (required); advanced Word/Excel abilities preferred
● Bilingual in English and Maai Maai, Nepali, or Kiswahili, or another language spoken by local refugee and immigrant communities (preferred)
