Economic Development Director – Nuestras Raices

The Nuestras Raices, Inc. Economic Development Director is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of a the organizations economic development strategy, including identifying potential business opportunities, attracting new businesses, retaining existing businesses, facilitating infrastructure development, and collaborating with local stakeholders to foster economic growth and improve the quality of life within the community; this often involves market research, policy development, business recruitment, and community outreach.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive economic development plan aligned with the organization’s goals, including identifying target industries and key growth areas.
  • Business Recruitment: Actively seek out and attract new businesses to the organization by presenting local advantages, negotiating incentives, and facilitating site selection processes. Work in collaboration with the Outreach and Education Coordinator and the Marketing and Communications Director to identify and recruit new financial literacy class, serv-save participants and other potential business owners.
  • Business Retention: Work with existing businesses to identify challenges and provide support for expansion, job creation, and continued operations within the community. Assist with business planning, Technical Assistance, business accounting, financing and other business needs.
  • Market Research: Conduct thorough analysis of local economic trends, industry demographics, and market opportunities to inform decision-making.
  • Community Outreach: Build relationships with local businesses, community leaders, and stakeholders to gather feedback and promote economic development initiatives
  • Policy Development: Advocate for policies and regulations that encourage economic growth and investment at the local level.
  • Project Management: Oversee all business operations and management of the Nuestras Raices locations. Oversee the implementation of economic development projects, including infrastructure improvements, downtown revitalization initiatives, and workforce development programs. Oversee Nuestras Raices enterprises including but not limited to Mobile Market, Farm Store, Farmers Markets, Restaurant, Commercial Farming Plots, Commercial Kitchen, CSA program and Commercial Food Trucks. Oversee all aspects of the Empresario Comunitarios Program.
  • Relevant Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in economics, business administration, urban planning, or a related field, with experience in economic development, real estate, or business development.
  • Compensation + benefits: The Economic Development Director role is a full-time (40 hours) position with a salary of $60,000.00 per year with 3% of the average yearly cost of living raise. Health and dental benefits, short- and long-term disability Ins., vacation, holidays and sick time.
