Farm Apartment for Rent on working livestock farm in Sunderland

We are looking for 1-2 individuals interested in renting an apartment in the front of our two family
farmhouse on a working livestock farm. We are looking for someone that would be available to do farm
chores for a reduction in rent. We are a small livestock farm that raises chicken, turkey, lamb and pork
to sell for meat. We also have horses, 2 mini ponies, 2 llamas and a donkey.

I am a retired nurse and my husband closed his tae kwon do business during Covid, so we are both
hoping to do more traveling in the future.

We are just finishing up a total remodel of our front apartment. It/s a two bedroom, and an office, 1 1/2
bath two story apartment in the front of our house. With the remodel it now has an open concept
kitchen, dining, living room downstairs, with full bath and hook ups for washer and dryer.

The ideal tenant would be interested and physically able to do chores, (feed animals, throw down hay,
pick up manure,…) once a week, and then additional time for us to go off and travel! It would be ideal
if you had some experience and the interest and ability to build on that. Rent reduction would be based
on a set # of days/year with the possibility of an increase of both your rent reduction and our vacation
time in the future.

The amount of time chores take daily varies a bit throughout the year, depending on factors such as
weather, pasture availability, stage of production such as gestation or lambing. I generally do not go
away at all during busy times such as lambing. Sometimes chores takes me 15 minutes and other times
an hour.

I have 3 working border collies and I would definitely prefer a tenant with no dogs. Cats or other pets
are negotiable. If this really works out for the right person then you could also possibly have your own
small livestock, or just adopt a few of mine! This could also be the ideal opportunity for someone
looking to be mentored in raising livestock. I am happy to provide instruction and guidance.

If this sounds like something you might want to pursue, please call or email me to set up a time to take
a tour and talk.
