4th Annual Summer Wild Edibles and Medicinals Walk & Feast

June 25, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

A long, cool spring stretched out flowering times for wild blueberries and currants here on the farm…Now an excellent fruit set is evident, with the native bumblebees having moved on to early flowers on our elderberries!

High tunnel raspberries buds open soon into flowers, enticing bumblebees into the greenhouse.  Did you know that greenhouse berries are totally dependent on native pollinators?  Imported honeybees’ navigation is impaired by plastic greenhouse cover; native bumblebees navigate easily between indoors and outdoors, efficiently pollinating our raspberries! The plants are now about four feet tall and by the time our pick-your-own visitors arrive they will be well over your heads!

Join the Acorn Kitchen crew for a fun-filled jaunt through the world of wild foods!

Experience, taste, and learn about the bold & beautiful, intoxicatingly fragrant, and sweetly understated procession of medicinal and edible spring and summer wildflowers.

Walk with Felix, forager extraordinaire, around the fields, gardens and meadows of the farm and meet a number of tasty and useful edible and medicinal plants beckoning for connection.

Feast on the front porch with a lovingly prepared meal, showcasing edible wildflowers and other foraged foods wildcrafted and grown almost exclusively on local lands with care and respect.
