Cheesemaking Practicum Part II

Full-day workshops on organic, pasture-based livestock systems, taught by outstanding Mentor Farmers!

These full-day programs are designed for the serious beginning farmer looking for in-depth instruction, hands-on training, and a chance to ask all your pesky questions! Taught by some of the best Mentor Farmers you’ll ever find, renowned organic farmers Donn Hewes and Maryrose Livingston of Northland Sheep Dairy in Marathon, NY and Karma and Michael Glos of Kingbird Farm in Berkshire, NY.

You MUST register in advance by emailing info@groundswellcenter.org or calling 607-319-5095. See prices and deadlines for each session. Let us know if you need overnight housing and we’ll hook you up! We reserve the right to cancel any sessions with insufficient enrollment.

Cheesemaking Practicum

Part II: Monday Oct 7, 2 PM – 4 PM

Instructor: Maryrose Livingston. Location: Northland Sheep Dairy
Cost: $120-$150, Voluntary Sliding Scale
Register by Wed September 25, 5PM.
Hands-on instruction and practice in making artisanal cheese on a commercial farmstead scale. Learn about the fermentation process, milk qualities, cultures, finding and using farmstead-scale equipment, regulations, economics and markets. Part II is optional for those who can attend and includes preparing the molded cheeses for aging in the Northland cheese cave.
