COLDFRAMES AND HOOPHOUSES

This Sunday, August 25th, from 2-5 pm, the Bullitt Reservation in Ashfield will be hosting its third and final gardening workshop of the summer! Come join Bullitt Property Steward Emmet Van Driesche as we build a small hoophouse in the garden, using the process to explore coldframe and hoophouse design, construction and use. These structures are inexpensive ways to eat out of your garden all winter long, and the flavor of your own spinach and lettuce in December will astound you. We will cover what to plant and when, what size structure and materials might be right for you, and how to take care of them through the winter. If you’ve been sitting on the fence about doing this, come get your hands dirty building one and see how easy it is!
