Community Meeting: Fort River Farm Conservation Area

The Town of Amherst Conservation Department invites community members to participate in a discussion regarding the pending acquisition of property in the East Village Center.
Among the ideas being discussed are:
- 2½ acres as an outdoor learning center with tillable land. It could have a demonstration garden and offer educational workshops.
- 4 acres for the sale of two to four licenses, issued by the Conservation Commission, to be used by start-up farmers.
- walking trails, space for passive recreation, and an interpretative trail outlining the natural resources and agricultural activities.
