Field Day: Value Added Grains Variety Trials: NOFA NY
July 1, 2014 @ 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Join us at Thompson Research Farm for a twilight field trials tour of value added grains. This event will include discussion with David Benscher, Research Support Specialist of the Cornell/OREI value-added grain project, Gary Bergstrom, Cornell Plant Pathology, Elizabeth Dyck from OGRIN, and other OREI partners. To bring back economically viable grain production to our region, this collaboration has focused on adding value to grains in multiple ways: by growing organically, growing grains with high market potential (specifically heritage and “ancient” wheat), and processing grains to create even higher-value products. Robert Perry of NOFA-NY will provide a demonstration of mobile seed cleaning equipment
Location: Thompson Research Farm, 133 Fall Creek Rd., Freeville, NY 13608 (Tompkins county)
Registration/Fee: This event is free of charge.
This program is supported by USDA/OREI and Cornell University
