Low-Tech Winter Gardening

This is a practical, inspiring, hands-on primer on winter growing techniques (“keeping the light alive”) using cold-hardy cultivars, aggressive timing, propagational ingenuity and (high and low tunnel) “hoophouses”.

This class will focus on the practical details of cold weather horticulture, including hoophouse construction and management, winter crop selection, compost making and soil building, harvesting and processing tips. We’ll also demonstrate a homemade pipe (conduit) bender for making low-tunnel, steel “hoops” and participants are invited to return to LDF at their convenience to bend their own. Class includes farm tour and snacks. Suggested donation, $25-$35… RSVP please, space limited.
