16th Annual Red Fire Farm Tomato Festival

August 27, 2016 @ 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Every year, we have an unbelievable selection of amazing and often award-winning tomatoes for you to taste.

It’s a great day at the farm, with everything from hay rides to cooking demonstrations to live music to crafters and a smorgasbord of local fare from area producers. Come and visit the Granby stand!

Festival open 12-6 PM.

We aren’t holding our Tomato Trot 5K this year, though you could still come do a field run in the morning if you like.

Guest Chefs & Workshops in the barn!

12:00 PM – Smoothies with Local Ingredients – Learn some great recipes that you can take home with you and taste samples of fresh smoothies!
1:00 PM – Making Your Own Kimchi and Sauerkraut – learn how to make kimchi, a traditional Korean side dish, lacto-fermented and full of probiotics. More tips for home fermentation of foods!
2:00 PM – How to Make Fresh Ricotta to go with your Tomato Salad, plus Tomatillo Salsa – Mary Nelen, aka the Valley Locavore, will teach the recipes and give out samples!
3:00 PM – Home Preservation Workshop – tips for preserving all the summer’s bounty for fall and winter delights.
4:00 PM – Shakshuka: An Isreali Stewed Tomato Dish with many variations – Chef and Edible Pioneer Valley editor in chief Mary Reilly will teach us how to make this scrumptious dish in many ways.

Wild Edibles Walk

1:30 and 3:30 PM – Wild Edibles Walk with Jean Bergstrom of Plant Spirit Medicine
Tour the wild parts of the farm to find what you can eat!

12-6 PM – See the vegetables that never make it to the supermarket…

Artisan and Food Vendors

From Local Pulled-Pork Tacos to Ice Cream, from pottery to handmade jewelry, there will be fun things to eat and peruse.

Pick Your Own – Open to the Public for One Day Only – Organic

Fresh flowers, herbs for drying, cherry tomatoes, saucing tomatoes, husk cherries, hot peppers, and more.

And the FAMOUS TOMATO TASTING

12-6 All afternoon in the Tasting Pavillion
Over 75 varieties of cherry, slicing, saucing and heirloom tomatoes to try!

DAY OF: $14 day of adults, $7 kids (8-17 years), kids under 8 free
